Emma Learns to Sprout by Shir Guez is a very cute story that gives insight into a child’s view regarding sprouting.
The ebook is a quick read that shares the conversation between Emma and her mother as the mom teaches Emma about sprouting her favorite foods and also why nutrition is so important. Emma becomes excited about the concept of sprouting and happily helps her mom with the process.
Emma Learns to Sprout is well illustrated with colored pictures. The ebook is easy to understand and would be appropriate for young children. I think it would be a great story to read to a youngster if you are interested in increasing their want to sprout. It reminded me of sprouting seeds when I was younger with my mom, then eating and enjoying the fruits of our labor.
Shir’s passion regarding this subject matter is obvious throughout the story which I think helps to increase the reader’s interest. Her knowledge and personal experiences shine through her detailed step-by-step description.
One thing I would like to see happen is the story made a little longer and perhaps use one more example of the sprouting process from start to finish, such as the lentils that are clearly discussed. My opinion is this would really help cement the desire amongst children and adults to begin sprouting.
Bottom line- Emma Learns to Sprout by Shir Guez is a sweet story and if you have a young child that you want to begin sprouting with or teach about nutrition, then this ebook would be a good starting point.
