Small Packing Cube by Dot&Dot

I love Dot&Dot! Once again, I am very happy! I received the small one piece packing cube in dark blue and it works great for toiletries while traveling which is what I use it for, but it would also work great for storing or organizing items at home. It collapses easily for simple storage and also expands to hold quite a bit as its size measures 11″ x 6.75″ x 3″.

The small packing cube also has a handle for carrying that is very durable and I have not had any problem with it coming lose and it is comfortable to carry this way. There have not been any issues with the zipper catching and in fact, opens and closes very easily. The small packing cube is not only very durable, but attractive and I appreciate the fact there is a variety of colors to choose from if you want to match your luggage or other carry-ons.

I also really like the mesh feature on top so you can easily see into the organizer without having to open it to locate what you are looking to find which is handy especially if you have more than one toiletry bag for yourself and/or your family.

The price is very reasonable (see below for a discount) and they would make a great gift for the Holidays or a Birthday.

Bottom line: I think these are great! #review

Haven: A Stranger Magic, Revenge of the Viper and Haven Series (Books 1 and 2) by D.C. Akers

Haven Book 1- A Stranger Magic

I had the opportunity to review Haven: A Stranger Magic by D.C. Akers. I really enjoyed this story which is the beginning of a Haven series.

A Stranger Magic gives insight into the main characters of the story; Sam, Sarah and Alisa Dalcome, Sam’s best friend Travis and a glimpse at characters yet to come that inhabit a world Sam never knew existed until now.

The reader learns details about the Dalcome past regarding why the Dad is no longer around, about the love and caring Mom who works hard to provide for her two children, the typical sibling rivalry between brother and sister and the strong bond between best buddies Sam and Travis that cement their friendship as they are always there for each other through thick and thin.

The story begins with a look at their everyday lives that Sarah and Sam assume are just your normal teens’ existence. But by the end of the story, you learn that they are anything but “average,” especially after Travis and Sam’s adventure into the local quarry and the mystery they uncover.

Even though the first part of the book starts out slightly slow, the story does pick up and I felt the book set up the next novel very well as the suspense builds at the end of A Stanger Magic. I cannot wait to see what happens in Book 2!

A Stranger Magic is a book that would be good for ages starting at young teens and up.

Haven Book 2- Revenge of the Viper

Revenge of the Viper is the second story in the Haven series. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel.
The story picks up where Book 1 left off and that involves more details revealed about the Dalcome family as Sam and Sarah learn about their parents past and the world known as Haven, battles and skirmishes that take place as good and evil battle for control and the continuation of everlasting best friendship between Sam and Travis as their lives change forever.

Sam and Sarah learn what they thought was just your average, normal teen existence is anything but, when they have to quickly hear, adapt and accept the facts about their Haven heritage, magic does actually exist and that their lives are all in danger.

At the end of Revenge of the Viper, I did not even realize that I was so close to being done with the book. I finished the last page, wanting to know what happened next and when reality set in, I kept thinking, “Wait?!?! What?! No, no….what happens next? Maybe if I keep clicking there will be another page that will magically appear?? It is a book about magic.” No such luck. Sadly, I now have to wait for Book 3!

If you are a fan of fantasy worlds, magic and/or the supernatural stories, you would probably enjoy Revenge of the Viper since it involves all of those aspects.

Revenge of the Viper is a book that would be good for ages starting at young teens and up.

Haven Series Collection (Books 1 and 2)

Haven Series Books 1 and 2 is a great start and set-up for Book 3! You find yourself immersed in the lives of the Dalcome family as the story starts out with their lives portrayed as your average hard-working single parent family and then literally changes overnight as more facts are revealed about the parents’ mysterious past lives in Haven. The story just takes off from there with more surprises, twists and turns take place as Alisa Dalcome reunites with friends from her Haven past while Sarah and Sam meet them for the first time as their mom’s secrets are revealed and their lives are turned upside. Travis, Sam’s trusty sidekick and best friend, is loyal throughout the story even as their friendship is tested and Sam learns the high value that devotion from a true friend can bring.

Many characters are in Haven including, Humans, Witches, Goblins, Orcs, Vampires and Elves as they try to exist peacefully together and join forces to protect the world they created and now call home; Haven.

If you are a fan of fantasy worlds, magic and/or the supernatural stories, you would probably enjoy the Haven Series since it involves all of those aspects.

Display-Sheet Makeup Bag by Display

There is one thing that drives me crazy when it comes to make-up either at home or while traveling and that is when a countertop is wet or the “sanitary” conditions are questionable during travel. Nothing worse than your brushes getting wet or you are leery about putting your make-up, Q-tips, etc., directly on the counter or floor. Yes, I have sat on hotel floors in front of mirrors to apply my make-up. Price you pay when traveling with 3 teens and 1 bathroom! I used to frequently put down a washcloth down as a resting place for my containers, bottles, pencils, etc., and hoped for the best.

Recently, I had the fun opportunity to try the Display-Sheet Makeup Bag by Display. It is a nice sized, well made sheet of durable nylon fabric with a bag attached.

Not only can you display your items on the sheet, but you can then just slide your products into the connected pouch portion, roll the attached sheet into the bag and the draw string pulls tight to secure your items in an easy carry case.

Then when you are ready to use the products again, you just open the bag back up, unroll the sheet and slid them back out. It is quick and secure. I have to admit, it is pretty awesome!

The Display-Sheet Makeup Bag works great for make-up, but I am sure there are many other ways the Makeup Bag could be used; golf supplies, color crayons, small kids toys, etc. I was pleasantly surprised by how much they hold. As you can see in the photos, all of those products fit, along with the sheet and there was still some room left.

One other great point to make, Display bags are manufactured in the USA and are the only source for bags that include a patent pending Display Sheet.

Bottom line- I definitely recommend the Display-Sheet Makeup Bag. They are very reasonably priced and would make a great Holiday gift! #review

Premium Green Tea Extract capsules by Green Tea Life Sciences

I am a big green tea advocate, not only for its antioxidants and health benefits, but I also love to drink tea on a daily basis. Normally, I would always try to drink green tea to gain the effects of weight control and also for the other added benefits such as improving brain function and help reduce the risk of certain illnesses and disease. Since I am such a fan of tea, I really like to drink a variety of teas, but also want the benefits of the green tea which is great that with the Premium Green Tea Extract capsules by Green Tea Life Sciences, I am now able to always have green tea each day.

The Premium Green Tea Extract capsules are made of Green Tea Leaf and contains naturally occurring caffeine, Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG) that helps prevent and treat various diseases and illnesses, and Polyphenol Catechins which provides antioxidants.

For the past month, I have taken 2 capsules daily with no ill side-effects and have not experienced any issues with the small amount of caffeine (equal to 1/6 of a cup of coffee per serving) that is contained in each dose. The capsules are not too big and are easy to swallow with liquid. I do not notice any kind of after taste.

Even though I have not noticed any attributable weight loss, my appetite has been nicely controlled. My energy level has increased. Brain function seems to have shown positive benefits in terms of concentration and focus. I also take comfort in the fact that I am taking very simple steps towards keeping myself as healthy as possible.

Another great aspect, Green Tea Life Sciences also offers a 100% money back guarantee, so you do not need to lose out if the capsules do not work out for you. It is nice to see a company stand behind their product with such confidence.

Bottom Line- I am very happy with Premium Green Tea Extract capsules by Green Tea Life Sciences and I will continue to be a huge green tea advocate! #review

DNA is funny

I have identical twin daughters that look very much alike, but are so opposite in personality, likes, dislikes, etc., that you end up in disbelief that they are even related, let alone ‘identical’ twins. Earlier today, one was acting like a….oh lets just say for lack of a better term; an idiot. Her sister on the other hand, who felt her superiority climbing higher and higher by the second on the ladder of life, decided to turn to me and say (while doing an extended arm wax on wax off maneuver), “Hey Mom, aren’t you proud?! Just think, 50% of that DNA is allllll youuuuu.” I casually turned to her and said, “Yep, you’re right. I cannot deny that. You got me there.” As I intentionally turned my back to the situation while hearing snickering behind me, I then timed it just right to drop the bombshell with……”Too bad for you that 99.999999% of that DNA is ALLLLLLLL YOOOUUUUUUUUU.” I closed with the wax on wax off.

Mom still rules in this house. Thanks DNA!

Large Packing Cubes by Dot & Dot

I have always been a ziploc girl when it comes to packing essentials for traveling or storing various items in the house. It always seemed to work okay, except for the times where you have a ridiculous amount of bags needed instead of going for a solution to combine into 1 bag or just a couple. That is one reason I was really happy to try out the 4-set large packing cubes from Dot & Dot.

The bags arrived in a protective plastic case and were packed very well. My initial impression upon opening was that the color I ordered was very pretty (purple). Next, I thought the 4 bags were very nice looking, well made, zippers worked great and did not stick or catch. I was also pleasantly surprised by how much the bags expanded and realized they would hold even more than I thought when I ordered with the dimensions being 17.5″ x 12.75″ x 3.25″. They even have a handle for easy transporting. So far, I was very impressed!

These bags are perfect for traveling! You can divide up numerous things for quicker organizing, each person can have their own bag, if there are items you are afraid of getting snagged or need extra protection, you can put them into a bag and then into your suitcase. Many possibilities! When I used them for a weekend away, I used one to keep smaller items separate for a quick and easy bag to grab from my suitcase to take with me on day outings.

Recently, I was organizing the sewing area at home and it dawned on me that I really needed to combine items and put them into bags that are easy to store and transport. I knew the 4 large packing cubes were going to be perfect! I not only was able to organize the area to be more efficient, but now like items have their own bag for easy use and that will save a lot of time when looking for certain things like ribbons or fabric. The cubes each hold a lot! Plus they stack upon each other for storage and do not take up very much room. Not to mention they look so much nicer than plastic bags.

No matter what the cubes are used for, the mesh top is also awesome because I can just look at the bag and know what is inside without having to search by opening and closing each one.

I have used the cubes for a month now for travel and storing items. The cubes have held up very well so far and still look good as new!

Bottom line- If you are looking for more organization while traveling or storing items, then I recommend the large packing cubes by Dot & Dot! They also make other sizes and shapes so the possibilities are endless! #review

Out of the Shoebox by Yaron Reshef

I admit, in order for me to read a book, if my attention is not grabbed within the first few pages, chances are I will not finish it. When I read, “I am certain that I never invited the past to walk into my life,” as the first sentence of “Out of the Shoebox,” by Yaron Reshef, my instincts told me that I was in for a real treat. By the time I finished this ebook, my initial impression was confirmed.

“Out of the Shoebox,” is a compelling and heartfelt true story about a man’s quest to find answers regarding his family’s past. Yaron relays the facts and journey that he sets out on to find new stories, solve mysteries and come to terms with the struggles his family faced during the Holocaust. I will not say too much regarding the actual events and answers found, as I do not want to give any information away, but I will say that the reader finds themselves immersed in the story and shares in the emotional rollercoaster during his travels and investigation.

Yaron does a great job at setting up the mental image and you almost feel as if you are a part of the ride as more clues are revealed. The author also includes excerpts and pictures throughout the story which makes his reality all the more understandable. In the entire ebook, characters are explained in exact detail so the story is easy to follow and you know who Yaron is referring to and how they fit into the puzzle.

I could go on and on about the raw emotions and coincidences (or fate) that take place during the story, but I will just say that if you are a reader who enjoys reading nonfiction and/or books written from the heart, especially regarding the victims of the horrific Holocaust, then “Out of the Shoebox,” by Yaron Reshef is a must read. #review
