Ode to Mr. Bill

Mr. Bill was apart of our beloved family for about a year. Many moments were shared together; we laughed, we cried, we loved…..now, sadly we lost.

Mr. Bill came to us as a whim purchase from the local pet store. We had a void in our lives and he filled our hearts and filled our home. His unforgettable call would ring thru the house, “OH NOOOOoooooooo……,” whenever he was squeezed by Maddy, occasionally by Tad or the random moments of a human stepping on him or tripping over him in the dark (well, other things were said during those moments along with Mr. Bill, but, children may be reading. I’m sure you get the idea).

Today, our world changed. Mr. Bill met Rum and sadly, Mr. Bill’s life was cut short in his prime. Mr. Bill tried to call for help, “OH NOOOOOOoooooooo….” But, let’s be honest, he’s always whining for help. A Peter cried wolf situation that we cannot change. No rolling back time and realizing that what Mr. Bill was really saying was, ”OH NOOOOooooo…NO SERIOUSLY! OHHHHH NNNOOOOOOOOO…..Ummm, Hello? Anyone?! Uh, HELP?! WTF??!!” Alas, that is a guilt we will now need to bare.

So, I say, we are sorry Mr. Bill. Your cry for help went unanswered. We truly regret not coming to your rescue in your moment of need. Granted, you look whole on the outside, sadly, you are now empty and silent on the inside.

I will forever miss hearing “OH NOOOOOOooooo….” at 2 am as Maddy used to bite you over and over and over and over and over and over and over…..Huh, OK, maybe not so much. Hmmm……..

Thank you, Rum! You saw a need and filled it! I now understand why you were sent into our lives. You came to save us all. Mr. Bill, it was your time to move on. My eyes have been opened. I can see clearly now the rain has gone. Wait, I think that is a song. Anyway, I digress.

So, in closing. Good-bye Mr. Bill. You actually were seriously annoying. Either way, it is only fitting to end this eulogy with one phrase….”OH NOOOoooooooo……”

We knew thee well.
